President Tinubu Presents N70,000 Minimum Wage Bill To House Of Representatives

The President in another letter also wrote the Lawmaker seeking amendment to the Nigeria Police Act

Abuja, Nigeria–  President Bola Ahmed Tinubu presented the N70,000 Minimum Wage bill to the House of Representatives on Wednesday.

The bill aims to formalize the recently agreed-upon wage increase, which was the result of extensive negotiations between organized labor, the private sector, and the federal government.

The President’s letter, delivered on the House floor by Speaker Rep. Tajudeen Abbas, details a new national minimum wage and sets forth the legal framework for its enforcement.

Tinubu called on lawmakers to expedite the passage of the minimum wage bill to ensure its swift implementation for the benefit of Nigerian workers.

The President in another letter also wrote the Lawmaker seeking amendment to the Nigeria Police Act by section 58 of the 1999 Constitution as amended.

The amendment seeks to alter the Police in relation to the appointment and tenure of office of the Inspector General of Police.
