Accra, Ghana– Colonel Isaac Amponsah, the personal security guard and Aide-De-Camp (ADC) to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, collapsed in Parliament during the President’s final State of the Nation Address on Friday, January 3, 2025.
In a viral video, Amponsah was seen groaning behind the President, visibly struggling to maintain composure before he suddenly collapsed while Akufo-Addo was delivering his address.
GhanaWeb reports that Colonel Amponsah, the President’s Aide-de-Camp (ADC) since February 2023, experienced a medical emergency while the President was addressing Parliament.
Colonel Amponsah took over from Major-General Bismark Onwona, who was reassigned as the Commandant of the Training and Doctrine Command at the Ghana Armed Forces.
Before his appointment as the President’s ADC, Colonel Amponsah held significant roles, including Chief Instructor at the Military Training Academy and a position with the Defence Intelligence Unit at the General Headquarters.
Having served in several senior positions, Colonel Amponsah had been promoted to the rank of Colonel prior to his current role.
It was gathered that after the incident, he regained consciousness and was seen being escorted out of the chamber.
