Police Rescue 10 Kidnap Victims, Arrest 15 kidnappers In Bauchi

Police operatives rescued ten kidnapped victims from different kidnapper’s enclaves at Burra Forest in Ningi LGA and recovered rustled cows, sheep and goats.

The Bauchi State Police Command says its operatives have arrested 15 suspected kidnappers, bandits, and cattle rustlers, including two female informants terrorising Ningi Local Government Area of the state and neutralised many others.

The state Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Musa Muhammad, disclosed this at the police headquarters on Thursday, August 3, 2023 while briefing newsmen on the sustained and unwavering efforts of the command towards combating crime and criminality in the state.

The CP also disclosed that police operatives rescued ten kidnapped victims from different kidnapper’s enclaves at Burra Forest in Ningi LGA and recovered rustled cows, sheep and goats.

“As we work towards the actualisation of a crime-free State, where the unsavoury activities of criminal merchants desperate to make a living at the expense of the law-abiding citizens of the state have put us on the chase and we are delighted that the force, our personnel and units, did not fall short of expectations.

“Ladies and gentlemen, the unrelenting and aggressive counter-kidnapping strategies of the Command in the fight against kidnapping and other heinous crimes have continued to yield positive results as the operatives of the Command and other sister security agencies recorded yet another harvest of criminals and elements.

“During this organized courageous operation, the Command was able to dismantle kidnappers/bandits and cattle rustlers syndicates; on the 2nd July 2023 the Command successfully arrested six (6) suspected gangs of kidnappers and their informants in which four (4) males and two (2) females, terrorizing Burra village and Ningi LGA as follows; Hamisu Umaru ‘m’ aged 30yrs disabled, Ahmadu Abdullahi ‘m’ aged 18yrs, Adamu Wada Tela ‘m’ aged 18yrs, Usman Iliya ‘m’ aged 15yrs, Rabi Tela Abdulmumini ‘f’ informant, Hajara Bello ‘f’

“Consequently, the arrest of the above suspect was insinuations to the Command operations which led to the dismantling of the kidnapper’s hideout situated at Burra Forest, due to the intense superior firepower by the Police, so many kidnappers were neutralized while others scamper in disarray and escaped with bullet wounds

“Moreover, during the operations, the Command had rescued five (5) kidnapped victims from the kidnapper’s den, among them includes; Mai Unguwan Kayel village under Balma district, Three Fulani from Kurmi with their three (3) motorcycles and a woman and her child from Kurmi village and reunited them with their respective families heal and healthy

Subsequently, on 31/7/2023 the operation continues to yield immense positive results which led to the rescue of another five (5) kidnapped victims from different kidnapper’s enclaves at Burra Forest, Ningi LGA, however, two (2) suspected kidnappers were also arrested alongside seventy (70) Cows, sixty (60) Sheep’s and Goats suspected to be rustled were also recovered.

In another development, the Command arrested a team of cattle rustlers terrorizing Ningi and beyond.

On 29/07/2023 information was received from Good Samaritan that on the same date at about 0300hrs two unknown people armed with cutlasses and sticks trespassed into the house of one Haruna Idi ‘m’ aged 23yrs of Zahi village via Burra village, and beat the occupant to an unconscious condition and made away with his cows.

On receipt of information, a team of detectives drafted from Ningi Divisional Headquarters swung into action, rushed to the scene and found one of the culprits by name Abubakar Ahmed ‘m’ aged 45yrs was neutralized by mob action and arrested Abdullahi Ahmadu ‘m’ aged 22yrs and recovered the Cows from them.

In addition, on 2/08/2023 at about 0800hrs intelligence at the Command disposal revealed that some unknown bandits launched an attack operation at Tabia and Kongoro axis.

On receipt of the intelligence, operatives swiftly swung into action at the scene neutralized two of the bandits and evacuated the corps from the mountain and deposited them at Ningi General Hospital mortuary, the operatives recovered the sum of three hundred thousand naira from them.

Also, on 1/08/2023 at about 1120hrs, the Command operatives arrested one Bilyaminu Ali ‘m’ aged 25yrs and Tasiu Safiyanu ‘m’ aged 25yrs all from Mani village, Katsina State, they were arrested around U.B.A Bank Ningi.

During interrogation, the suspects couldn’t give a satisfactory account of themselves. An investigation is ongoing.

Furthermore, on 1/08/2023 at about 1500hrs, Police detectives in conjunction with the Nigerian Army and other Quasi security outfits arrested four (4) members of kidnapper’s groups stationed within Kongoro Community and observing the movement of the communities.

The suspects include; Rahane Abubakar ‘f’, Habu Tukur ‘m’ aged 23yrs of Kongoro, Mohammed Rabiu ‘m’ aged 40yrs of Kongoro, Idris Haruna ‘m’
Sule Haruna ‘m’.

The CP further stated that the command would not shy away from its constitutional mandate of protecting the life and property of our hard-working citizens/residents through robust synergy/partnership with all relevant stakeholders in the state.

“Its worthy to note that the groundbreaking recorded of the Command would be attributed to the strategic review of the Command operations through robust partnership with other sister security agencies, community participation and intelligence led-policing in the State,” he said.
