Police Officers Arrested For Assaulting Man In Viral Video

The Force Headquarters, Abuja has paraded three policemen caught in a viral video assaulting an innocent man in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Monday, April 10, disclosed that the officers have been arrested and would be at the force headquarters in Abuja.

In a video, a police officer is seen slapping and flogging a man who was stopped on the road.

Reacting to the video, Adejobi condemned the action and assured that the officers would be arrested.

Mr Adejobi on Tuesday confirmed that the officers had been arrested.

“These men have been arrested, and their commander will personally bring them to the Force Headquarters for further actions. They are three in number, attached to RRS, or Rivers State. Their action does not portray the police in a good light at all.

He stated that whatever a policeman does is personal and that it is not systematic.

In an update shared on his Twitter handle this evening, Adejobi gave the names of the erring officers as Inspector Adejoh Siaka; Inspector Friday Obaka, and Sgt. Ndiwa Kpuebari. He said their trial will commence soon.
