Police, Hunters Arrest 32 Kidnappers In Adamawa, Recover N1.6m, 13 AK-47s

Commissioner Babatola recognized and awarded merit plaques to 11 police officers and four hunters.

The Adamawa State Police Command, in conjunction with professional hunters, has arrested 32  suspects of being involved in kidnapping activities within the state.

On Monday, September 4, 2023, at the police headquarters in Yola, the spokesperson of the command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, paraded the suspects, disclosing that a total of N1,689,000 in cash had been seized from the arrested individuals.

One of the suspects presented during the parade was Mustapha Mohammed, who has been connected to the abduction of Zainab Abbas, the spouse of a judge in the Adamawa State High Court.

Zainab Abbas was kidnapped from her home in Nyibango, situated along the Barracks Road area of Jimeta, Yola, during the early hours of June 7, 2023, by gunmen who were initially reported as unidentified people.

Nguroje listed the other items as 13 AK-47 rifles, five locally made pistols, four pump action guns, and four motor vehicles, among others.

After addressing the press regarding the arrests, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) escorted the journalists to the office of the State Commissioner of Police, Afolabi Babatola. During this visit, Commissioner Babatola recognized and awarded merit plaques to 11 police officers and four hunters, all of whom he credited with being instrumental in the recent successes achieved in crime-fighting efforts.
