Police Arrest Seven Suspects Over Murder Of Islamic Scholar In Zamfara

Two suspects allegedly forged documents to claim 40 cows in Zamfara State.

Gusau, Zamfara State– The Zamfara State Police Command has arrested seven suspected killers of Islamic scholar, Sheikh Abubakar Hassan Mada.

The cleric was brutally murdered on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, in Mada town, Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State by some persons suspected to be members of the Community Protection Guards (CPG).

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammad Dalijan, paraded the suspects before newsmen and members of the Izalatul Bidi’a wa’ikamatus Sunnah at the Command’s headquarters in Gusau, the state capital.

Dalijan further stated that the police operatives also arrested one Kabiru, who was among the terrorists that burnt a police operational vehicle and attacked the residence of the former Chairman of the National Union office Road Transport Workers, NURTW.

“The police have also apprehended two suppliers of ammunition to terrorist kingpin, Bashari, who has been operating in the Shinkafi and Kaura Namoda areas of Zamfara State. The two suspects were identified as Anas-Ruwa Tukur and Tijjani Aliyu,” the CP added.

“Two suspects allegedly forged documents to claim 40 cows in Zamfara State.”

The police commissioner promised that the suspects will be charged to court of competent jurisdiction for possible prosecution.
