Police Arrest Prison Escapee Who Masterminded Killing Of Army General
The suspect to one Chile Hotel in Kano State on July 17, where he was perfecting his plans to flee the country
Abuja, Nigeria– The Nigerian Police Federal Capital Territory Command has arrested Hashiru Baku, a notorious prison escapee and the alleged mastermind behind the murder of Brigadier General Harold Udokwere.
Recalled the deceased, who was the National Chairman of the Retired Members of the Nigerian Armed Forces, was murdered by armed robbers who invaded his Abuja residence on June 22, 2024, and took his gun
During a press briefing at the police command in Abuja, the FCT Commissioner of Police, Bennett Igweh, stated that the suspect, a fugitive from Kuje Prison, had been apprehended in Kano State while attempting to flee the country.
Igweh said police operatives trailed the suspect to one Chile Hotel in Kano State on July 17, where he was perfecting his plans to flee the country
According to him, “We have recovered the general’s wristwatch and his wife’s jewelry, which were stolen from his house. Additionally, we have also recovered the general’s gun that was taken with him.
“It is important to note that the same Hashiru Marazu Bako was once arrested in 2022 at Wuse zone 6 for armed robbery, was prosecuted and sentenced to Kuje correctional facility from where he broke out during the 22/05/2022 Kuje jailbreak.
“Instead of him to repent, he continued with more audacity. We arrested him in Kano where he was trying to exit the country,” he said.
