Police Arrest Fake Army Captain For Armed Robbery In Lagos

A 39- year -old man, Andy Edwards, who posed as an Army captain and a modelling agent to invite ladies for auditioning and consequently robbing them of their cars and other valuables at gunpoint in Lagos has been arrested.

The spokesperson for Lagos Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said Edwards was arrested following a painstaking investigation after one of his victims reported how he robbed her of her Lexus RX330 SUV.

He added that one Ford Edge SUV with registration number KRD 276 EG, one sewing machine and one POS machine with six SIM cards two pairs of military camouflage uniforms and one number plate – AFL 469 GD were recovered from Edward.

Mr Hundeyin said he was arrested for alleged armed robbery on his method of operation.

According to him, Edwards, who posed as a modelling agent, would invite ladies for auditioning and rob them of their cars and valuables at gunpoint.

“Investigation led to the recovery of one Ford Edge SUV with registration number KRD 276 EG, one sewing machine and one POS machine with six SIM cards from the suspect’s house.

“Also recovered from him were two pairs of military camouflage uniforms and one number plate – AFL 469 GD.

“While the investigation is being rounded off, the owner of the Ford SUV is hereby urged to come forward to claim same. The suspect would be arraigned at the conclusion of the investigation,’’ Hundeyin stated.

He, however, assured the people of Lagos State of the unwavering commitment of officers and men of the police to end crime and criminality in the state.
