Nigerian Police Officer Threatens Reprisal Against Southerners Following Killings In Edo State
On Tuesday, Dan-Taki posted a message on Facebook, swearing by Almighty God that northerners in the north must take action against southerners in response to the killings.
Kaduna, Kaduna State– A Nigerian police officer, Hadaina Hussaini Dan-Taki, from Kaduna State, has come under fire after threatening a reprisal attack on southerners living in the north, following the killing of 16 northerners in Uromi, Edo State.
On Tuesday, Dan-Taki posted a message on Facebook, swearing by Almighty God that northerners in the north must take action against southerners in response to the killings.
The officer, who appears in his police uniform in his social media profile, declared that southerners have forgotten that many of their people live in the north, and warned that they would soon “see the result” of their actions.
Several social media uusershave ccondemned he police officer’s statement as an attempt to fuel ethnic tensions.
Meanwhile, many also questioned how a law enforcement officer could make such inflammatory remarks while representing the Nigerian police force.
However, after receiving criticism, he locked his page, preventing users from accessing his posts and comments.
On Wednesday, Muyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), responded on X to the situation. The police spokesman stated, “Noted for necessary action. Thanks.”
