Nigerian Police Officer Reportedly Shoots Himself Dead In Nasarawa
His colleagues, who were outside the apartment, heard the gunshot and quickly rushed inside.
Lafia, Nasarawa State – A police constable attached to the Mada Station Division of the Nasarawa State Police Command, identified as Dogara Akolo-Moses, has allegedly taken his own life.
It was gathered that Akolo-Moses was seen carrying out his usual duties in Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area on the day of the incident before reportedly turning his firearm on himself.
Daily Trust reports that the officer entered a private room, where he shot himself. The sound of the gunshot alerted other officers on duty, who rushed to the scene and found the officer lying in a pool of blood.
“His colleagues, who were outside the apartment, heard the gunshot and quickly rushed inside, where they discovered the officer on the floor with his gun beside him,” a source said.
The reason behind the officer’s actions remains unclear at the time of this report.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Nasarawa State Command, Ramhan Nansel, confirmed the incident to journalists in Lafia on Wednesday.
He stated that an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the officer’s tragic decision.
