Man Stabs Friend To Death Over N2,000 Debt In Ondo

Akure, Ondo State- The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 34-year-old man, Monday Chukwu, for allegedly stabbing his friend, Kefa Ofando, to death over a N2,000 debt.

The unfortunate event occurred at Akintola village in the Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

It was gathered that an argument between Chukwu and Ofando escalated into a violent confrontation.

The two men, reportedly close friends, were engaged in a heated disagreement over the debt when tempers flared, leading to a physical altercation.

During the scuffle, Chukwu allegedly stabbed Ofando in the neck, resulting in his death at the scene.

While parading the suspect, the Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Oladipo Abayomi, stated how a disagreement led to the death of Kefa Ofando.

“On September 20, 2024, officers from the Odigbo Divisional Police Headquarters, responding to a complaint, arrested 34-year-old Monday Chukwu, a resident of Akintola village, Odigbo. Chukwu is accused of fatally stabbing 30-year-old Kefa Ofando during an argument.

According to the investigation, the conflict arose after Ofando, who had lent Chukwu two thousand Naira, requested repayment. The situation escalated, and Chukwu allegedly stabbed Ofando in the neck with a pair of scissors.

Police recovered the scissors at the scene, and a medical professional confirmed Ofando’s death.

“The investigation is ongoing, and Chukwu will face charges upon its conclusion. This incident highlights the dangers of letting conflicts turn violent and the importance of managing emotions during disputes,” he added.
