Kano Police Arrest 3 For Kidnapping, Murder Neighbour’s 14-Year-Old Son

Kano State– Operatives of the Kano State Police Command have arrested three suspects who kidnapped and killed their neighbour’s 14-year-old son, Abdullahi Sani, in Hotoron Fulani Quarters.

In a statement by the spokesperson of the command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, on Thursday, February 15, 2024, said the principal suspect, Ismail Adamu, 22, was arrested after the father of the boy received a phone call from an unknown number demanding the sum of N4m for the release of his kidnapped son.

Adamu revealed that he conspired with one Risi, kidnapped the victim, took him to Sabuwar Zara village where they stabbed him in his neck and threw him inside a soakaway pit at an uncompleted building before contacting his father to demand for ransom.

Discreet investigation led to the arrest of two suspects, Musa Usman, 17, and Abdullahi Usman, 20, who assisted the principal suspect in the negotiation of the ransom.

“On 08/02/2024 at about 1100hrs, a report was received from one Alhaji Rabiu Abdullahi, ‘m’, of Hotoron Fulani Quarters Kano that he received a phone call from an unknown person that his son, Abdullahi Sani, aged 14 years old, ’m’, of same address was kidnapped and a ransom of Four Million Naira (N4,000,000:00) was demanded for his release,” the statement read.

“The situation prompted, the Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel, FIPMA, psc engaged a team of Policemen from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Command to ensure the rescue of the victim and arrest the perpetrators.

“The Team immediately swung into action. Preliminary investigation led to the arrest of the principal suspect; Ismail Adamu, aged 22 years old, ‘m’, of Hotoron Fulani Quarters, Kano on 12/02/2024.

“In furtherance to the investigation, the said Ismail Adamu confessed to having conspired with one Risi, ’m’, of Mariri Quarters Kano and kidnapped the victim.

“The suspect further revealed that they took the victim to Sabuwar Zara Village where they stabbed him in his neck and threw him inside a soak away at an uncompleted building in Sabuwar Zara Quarters Kano, and later contacted the father and demanded four million naira (N4,000,000:00) for his release.

“Furthermore, the crime scene was visited by the Police Operatives where the deceased body was removed from the soak away and evacuated to Abdullahi Wase Specialists Hospital Kano where a medical doctor certified the body dead and it was deposited at the Hospital’s mortuary.

“The discreet investigation led to the arrest of two suspects; namely, Musa Usman, aged 17 years old, ‘m’, of Hotoron Fulani Quarters Kano, and Abdullahi Usman, aged 20 years old, ‘m’, of the same address that assisted the principal suspect in the negotiation of the ransom with a mobile phone. The suspect will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.
