Man Arrested For Alleged N17m Fraud Posing As Nasarawa Governor’s Associate
Isiaka admitted to the crime but claimed he only took N14 million, not N17 million as alleged.
Lafia, Nasarawa State- The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested a 58-year-old man Shuaibu Isiaka, for allegedly defrauding a victim of N17 million by falsely claiming to have close connections with the Nasarawa State Governor.
According to reports, Isiaka deceived the victim into paying N17 million, pretending he could secure a government contract from the Nasarawa State Government.
A statement released by DSP Ramhan Nansel, the police spokesperson, noted that the arrest followed a petition against Isiaka for fraudulently obtaining money under the pretense of securing a contract.
The statement reads, “Police operatives from the State Criminal Investigation Department of the Nasarawa State Police Command arrested Shuaibu Isiaka, aka Ziko, 58, from Tudun Gwandara, Lafia.
Isiaka is accused of defrauding a member of the public of N17 million by falsely claiming to have connections with the Nasarawa State Governor.”
“During interrogation, Isiaka admitted to the crime but claimed he only took N14 million, not N17 million as alleged.”
Police Commissioner CP Umar Shehu Nadada has ordered a thorough investigation and directed that anyone linked to the crime be pursued, regardless of their status.
He also urged the public to be cautious of fraudsters who exploit high-profile names to deceive people.
