Ikeja, Lagos The Zone 2 Police Command has confirmed the detention of an Investigating Police Officer (IPO) attached to Isheri-Oshun Division over allegations of tampering with a case file and a medical doctor’s report in a sexual assault investigation.

Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police, Adegoke Fayoade, disclosed this on Tuesday in Lagos but did not reveal the officer’s identity.

According to the police, the officer allegedly altered key documents related to the case of anal sexual assault involving teenage students and a hotelier in the Isheri-Oshun area of the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria has reported that a hotel owner was detained by operatives from the zonal command for allegedly engaging in anal sex with several teenage students at his hotel.

The hotelier is said to have threatened the students, warning them never to disclose the acts or face fatal consequences.

The situation came to light after one of the victims, a 16-year-old boy, confided in his parents about the abuse.

Following the hotelier’s arrest, his lawyer claimed that they had previously reported the case to the same zonal command for investigation.

However, when the case file was retrieved, it was discovered that it had been tampered with.

According to sources, a confessional statement from another teenager who suffered similar abuse at the Isheri Osun Division, along with medical reports from doctors at the Mirable Center in Ikeja General Hospital, Lagos, had been altered.

As a result, the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) ordered further investigations. This led detectives from the Zonal Oracle Unit, led by CSP Uba, to visit the Isheri Osun Police Station.

Upon arrival, the Investigating Police Officer (IPO) responsible for the case admitted to removing certain statements from the file.

The hidden statements were later recovered, revealing detailed accounts from a second victim, supported by documented evidence of the hotelier’s actions.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that other police officers from the Ejigbo division may be questioned regarding their alleged involvement during the raid on the hotel, which was conducted by detectives from the zonal command to arrest the suspect.
