Kwara Police Parade Suspected Kidnappers, Issues Warning To Criminals
CP Paul Odama gave the warning on Thursday while parading suspected criminals
The Kwara State police on Thursday paraded ten suspects, arrested from various locations of the state for kidnapping and armed robbery.
The state commissioner of police CP Paul Odama gave the warning on Thursday while parading suspected criminals at the command’s headquarters in Ilorin.
According to Odama who briefed journalists, said one Ibrahim Umar from Ijan Otun Via Oro in Irepodun LGA of Kwara State sent his two sons on an errand to a nearby village, they were pounced on and abducted by armed men.
“As soon as the information got to the Command, a team of Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Vigilante and hunters were dispatched into the bushes around the Area for possible search, rescue and arrest of the suspects.
“Two victims were rescued unhurt and one of the suspects was equally arrested.
He said an effort to arrest the remaining suspects is in progress
Another set of armed robbery suspects was also paraded.
Two of the suspects, Victor Olorunmayese m; age 30yrs, and Lukman Musa ‘m’ age 25yrs, attacked and robbed one Mrs Jemilat Asiyanbi ‘f’ a POS operator of a sum of N300,000.00 at the gunpoint.
“With the help of members of the community and the Anti-Kidnapping patrol team along the Offa Garage/Kilanko axis, the principal actor was arrested and the remaining suspects escaped.
“Investigation led to the arrest of the second suspect and recovery of one live cartridge, while one Lekan ‘m’ who is still at large escaped with the gun used in the operation. The suspects confessed to being members of the Eiye confraternity. The effort to arrest Lekan is ongoing.
Another set of suspects who used their motorcycles to convey kidnappers were also paraded.
One Talatu Goma, a cheese seller forcefully abducted by the two men identified as Sanni Sule and Abdulsalam Kuta. The information also stated that while in the bush, two other men on a motorcycle came and took the victims to another different location.
“The two phone numbers used by the kidnappers to demand ransom were tracked and one Sanni Sule ‘m’ was arrested. During interrogation, he mentioned Abdulsalam Kuta as one of his accomplices.
An identification parade was conducted and the suspects were identified by the victim as her abductors.
Similarly, CP. Odama paraded another suspected kidnappers gang who was the mastermind of the kidnapping of Magistrate Jumoke Bamigboye ‘f’ who was recently released.
According to him, information at the disposal of Eiyenkorin Divisional Headquarters revealed that on 3/11/2022 at about 0200hrs, one Madaki Saidu ‘m’ of Fulani Camp at Aiyegunle village was in his residence with his family members when some suspected Fulani armed men stormed his house and hacked his son to death.
They kidnapped Madaki Saidu ‘m’ and one of his granddaughters named Cumattu Madaki ‘f’, investigation into the matter led to the arrest of the three suspects named Babangida Ibrahim ‘m’ age 18yrs, Abubakar Ibrahim ‘m’ age 19yrs, Sulaiman Kire ‘m’ 20yrs.
Meanwhile, the Cp has issued a strong warning to all criminals to vacate the state, saying Kwara won’t be a haven for any criminals.
He, however, said all the suspects will be charged to court as soon as the investigation is concluded.
