A poll conducted by ANAP Foundation has indicated that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has an early lead in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Kwara state.

The poll tipped AbdulRazaq as gaining a landslide victory if the election were conducted today.

Mr AbdulRazaq who is the incumbent governor of the state is the flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He is seeking to run for a second term in office.

In a media appearance on Monday on Channels TV, the Founder of ANAP Foundation and Stanbic IBTC, Atedo Peterside, explained that Governor AbdulRazaq is popular across the three senatorial districts, with Kwara North being his stronghold.

Incidentally, the candidate of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Shauibu Yaman Abdullahi, is from Kwara North. He came a distant second in the poll with 11%.

Candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Hakeem Lawal, came a very distant third with 3%.

Governor AbdulRazaq however emerged top of the poll with 30%.

An analysis of the whole percentages allocated for other candidates across the three senatorial districts shows they didn’t measure up with those of AbdulRazaq.

Governor AbdulRazaq remains the candidate to beat as he still has a strong following of the masses in the state.
