Kano Police Arrest Man, Quack Doctor After Death Of His 19-Year-Old Pregnant Girlfriend

Kano State– The Kano State Police Command has arrested one Ukasha Muhammed and a quack doctor in connection with the death of a 19-year-old pregnant woman in Tofa Local Government Area.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, said the quack doctor, Chidera Ugwu, administered injections and drugs to Amina Balarabe, with intent to cause miscarriage.

Kiyawa said investigations revealed that Chidera Ugwu, has been administering fatal injections to pregnant women.

“On 20/12/2023 at about 1030hrs, report was received from one Nura Balarabe, ‘m’, of Tofa LGA Kano that one Ukasha Muhammed, aged 19 years, ‘m’, of Langel Village Tofa LGA Kano Impregnated his sister, Amina Balarabe, aged 19 years, ‘f’ of Kwanar Mahuwa Tofa LGA Kano and the said Ukasha Muhammad conspired with one Chidera Ugwu, aged 24 years, ‘m’ of Lanbum Banki Tofa LGA Kano and administered injections and drugs to the said Amina Balarabe with intent to cause miscarriage which resulted to her death,” the statement read.

“The suspects were arrested and confessed to the crime. Investigations revealed that the said Chidera Ugwu has allegedly been administering fatal injections to pregnant women, leading to tragic consequences.

“The arrest of the Quack Doctor signifies a significant breakthrough in our ongoing efforts to safeguard the lives and well-being of all the residents in the State,”

“In addition, we will work diligently to compile solid evidence to ensure the successful prosecution of the arrested individuals. Our objective is not only to bring the perpetrators to justice but also to serve as a deterrent to others who may contemplate such criminal actions.

“The CP also appreciates the public’s patience and trust in the Kano Police Command as we continue to investigate these horrific crimes.
