Gunmen Kidnap Council Chairman, Driver, Orderly, Aide In Benue

They were kidnapped on their way to the burial of the paramount ruler of the area

Makurdi, Benue State – Unidentified gunmen abducted the Council Chairman of Ukum Local Government Area in Benue State, Rev. Gideon Haanongon, along with his Personal Assistant on Administration, Silas Yuhwam, his driver, and his orderly.

In a statement from the Secretary of the Council, Jonathan Modi, the incident took place around 6:30 am on Saturday, January 13, 2024, along Anyagba, Tongov, in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area.

“The Chairman was kidnapped alongside his orderly, PA, and driver on their way to attend the burial of the paramount Ruler of the LG, the Ter Katsina-Ala, HRH Chief Fezaanga Wombo.

According to him, they were kidnapped on their way to the burial of the paramount ruler of the area, the Ter Katsina-Ala, Chief Fezaanga Wombo.

The statement advised all residents to remain calm and law-abiding while measures were being put in place to rescue them.

Police public relations officer, Catherine Anene, however, said she was yet to be briefed on the incident at the time our correspondent contacted.
