Governor AbdulRazaq Presents 50 Buses To Transport Workers In Kwara

This is the second face of our community transport intervention projects, it is designed to benefit the members of NURTW and RTEN in the state.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State on Tuesday presented 50 Mini Buses to the National Union Of Road Transport Work (NURTW) and Road Transport Employment of Nigeria (RTEN) members in an effort to provide convenient public transportation access for commuters in the State.

Representing the Governor at the presentation,  Commissioner for Works and Transport in Kwara state, Engr. Suleiman Rotimi Iliasu stated that the programs underline the effort of the AbdulRazaq administration to support businesses in the state.

Engr. IIiasu said a productive workforce remained the backbone of a prosperous society, pointing out that Kwara Transport Workers are important stakeholders in the growth of the State.

” This is the second face of our community transport intervention projects, it is designed to benefit the members of NURTW and RTEN in the state.

According to him, the first face was launched in August 2021, it benefited the member of the Tricycle Owners Association of Nigeria (TOAN) when the state Government rolled out 100 tricycles in sustainable efforts to ensure that the transport sector is given the desired attention. The State Government is rolling out another 50 Mini Buses to ease commuters, goods and services across the communities in Kwara State.

“The Intervention is worth 120 million as provided by SEAP Micro-finance, and the Government on its part qaurrant the facilities for the benefit of Kwarans.

He said  AbdulRazaq Administration has created both direct and indirect jobs that have taken many of the young population out of idleness through various interventions.

“We are confident that the meticulous using of this vehicle will generate more economic value for our people.”

“This is the kind of gesture and strategic partnership that the government is always advocating for, in the effort to ensure shared prosperity.

He appreciates the enduring support offered by the management of SEAP Micro-finance Bank to the Kwara state government, particularly in the area of transport.

He urges the beneficiaries to be law-abiding and create new ideas on how their business can be improved as they provide kwarans with valuable services.

The Senior Special Assistant to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, on Community Intervention, Kayode Oyin Zubair,  said that the first face of community transport intervention projects was launched last year by the State Government.

100 tricycles were distributed to the members of TOAN, and the initiative was in partnership with SEAP Micro-finance bank, the 100 units of tricycles worth 92 million and the intervention is to run for 18 months.

“It is my pleasure that the member of the Tricycle Owners Association of Nigeria (TOAN) who benefited from the scheme have lived up to expectations.

Mr Zubair explained that the 50 Mini Buses were worth 120 million, members of RTEN are supported with 25 units of minibuses while the other 25 buses are to the members of NURTW respectively.

He said the intervention was only for the road transport sector while work has been done in other sectors through community intervention.

He, however, thank Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his unrelenting support given to his platform for the community intervention projects in the State.

In his remarks, the Chairman of Road Transport Employment of Nigeria (RTEN) in Kwara, Alhaji AbdulRahman Olayinka Onikijipa, stated that the gesture shows that the Governor has a listening ear.

“We would like to deliver the appreciation and loyalty messages of the national and state leaders and members of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria to you. We are proud of your achievement since the inception of your administration.

“We are not surprised that the responsible and responsive government of Mallam Abdul Rahman Abdul Razaq, Executive Governor of Kwara State is partnering with our union to provide working tools for our members. The union is impressed with your unparalleled commitment to the provision of social amenities across the length and breadth of the State.” He said.

He, however, appreciated the efforts of the SA to the Governor on Community Interventions.

The Kwara State Chairman of Nation Union member Of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Alhaji AbdulKareem AbdulRazaq Ariwoola, said the union is impressed with the State government’s unparalleled commitment to the provision of social amenities across the length and breadth of the State.

He said “Our union occupies a strategic position in the workforce and development of this country it’s therefore important for different levels of government to make a deliberate investment in this sector.

“I am excited today as our members are supported with 25 units of the shuttle buses to ply various roads in Kwara State as you continue to partner with us on developmental issues you are assured of our unalloyed support,” he added.

Also in attendance at the presentation ceremony were the state Commissioner for Local Government Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development Arc Aliyu Muhammed Saifuddeen, Group Managing Director of Harmony Holdings Limited, Abdullahi AbdulMajeed amongst others.
