FG Declares Wednesday Public Holiday For Eid-ul-Maulid Celebration

He stressed that these values are essential for fostering unity and harmony

Abuja, Nigeria- The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, September 27, 2023, as a public holiday in honor of Eid-ul-Maulid, marking the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

In an official statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Oluwatoyin Akinlade, on behalf of the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Muslims across the country were congratulated on the occasion.

The Minister extended warm wishes to all those celebrating and urged them to reflect on the spiritual values epitomized by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

The Minister emphasized the importance of embracing virtues such as love, patience, tolerance, and perseverance as exemplified by the Holy Prophet.

He stressed that these values are essential for fostering unity and harmony in the diverse society of the country.

The Minister urged the youths to adopt a strong work ethic and maintain peaceful interactions with fellow citizens, regardless of differences in faith, ideology, social class, or ethnicity.
