FCC Saga: Insider Exposes Kolo’s Sandals, Clears Dankaka’s Name
The FCC Chairman, Dr Muheeba Dankaka, has consistently maintained her innocence and remained calm throughout the situation
Haruna Kolo, the former staff of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), who testified before the ad-hoc committee of the House of Representatives investigating job-racketeering allegations, has been revealed as the mastermind behind the syndicate involved in illicit job-racketeering.
This revelation comes as a major blow to Kolo’s credibility and casts doubt on his previous testimony. It also exonerates Dr Muheebah Dankaka, who assumed the role of Chairman of the Commission after Kolo’s departure. The FCC saga takes a dramatic twist as insiders shed light on Kolo’s involvement in the illicit activities that plagued the Commission prior to Dankaka’s tenure.
Afrika Eyes has uncovered a startling revelation regarding Haruna Kolo, who held the dual roles of IIPPIS Officer and Protocol duties for an astonishing 10 years without any transfer. As Dr. Dankaka, in her relentless pursuit to combat job-racketeering, reassigned him and other members of the syndicate, Kolo has been desperately seeking retribution ever since.
Kolo was identified as the syndicate leader by staff and certain Commissioners when Dankaka joined the Commission, according to sources who spoke to Afrika Eyes on Monday.
“He was planted at the Commission to work as IIPPIS/Protocol Officer, hence he has access to the job slots. He was the head of the syndicate. He was at the post for 10 years before Dr Dankaka came and redeployed him in her effort to fight the menace of job-racketeering.
“Her (Dankaka’s) determination to fight job-racketeering in the Commission is being used against her now.
“When she came in, she bust the syndicate, redeploying the likes of Kolo and his ilks. Of course they vowed to deal with her,” a staff of the Commission said on Monday.
Afrika Eyes uncovered that one of the Commissioners opposing the FCC Chairman wrote the evidence that Kolo presented during the Committee hearing.
“The evidence was written for him by one of the Commissioners fighting the Chairman but unfortunately for them, they shot themselves in the leg. They have indicted the man. How can a civil servant admitted to taking bribe.
“That guy called Haruna Kolo is gone. Admitting on camera that he was collecting money for job slots. He even admitted that the monies were paid into his personal account,” another staff told our correspondent.
It became apparent that Haruna Kolo was being untruthful when he claimed to be making payments to the FCC Chairman. He failed to provide any evidence of these payments and claimed they were made through a Point of Service (POS) system, even though POS operators issue receipts for transactions.
Investigations further revealed that Haruna Kolo was dishonest in his claim of giving cash to the FCC Chairman at her house. It was discovered that he didn’t know the whereabouts of Dr. Dankaka’s residence, let alone entering it.
“The guy is lying and he was being used by the few Commissioners working against the woman,” sources close to the Chairman told Afrika Eyes.
It was discovered that the claim of Haruna Kolo being threatened was false. In fact, investigations revealed that Dr. Dankaka had been previously attacked by unknown gunmen.
Our sources have confirmed that a Commissioner from Lagos had publicly threatened the FCC Chairman in her office. The Commissioner warned that if she didn’t cooperate, they would utilize a system similar to what they use in Lagos to discredit her.
“We never know that they will go to this extent of importing somebody to come and lie publicly against her. But thank God, they’ve been exposed and at the end of the day, Haruna Kolo will bear the full weight of his offence,” our source added.
Investigation suggest that Haruna Kolo’s evidence may have been influenced by a minority group of Commissioners who are against the FCC Chairman.
Afrika Eyes gathered that two days before the Committee’s sitting, Haruna Kolo was frequently seen with the Commissioners from Lagos and Osun states, who are the leaders of the minority group.
“He was following them up and down and they were seen together and it was no surprise that he was ushered into the Hall to speak before members of the Committee by the Commissioner from Osun State,” our source added.
Despite the allegations and speculations, the FCC Chairman, Dr Muheeba Dankaka, has consistently maintained her innocence and remained calm throughout the situation. She believes that the accusations are a result of corruption fighting back, and it seems that she is being proven right.
