FAAN Begins 14-Day Paternity Leave For Workers

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has approved the commencement of 14 working-day paternity leave for serving male officers whose spouse delivers a baby.

The Deputy General Manager, Administration, Francis Akhimien, said this on 28 December, 2022 in a circular with Ref: FAAN/HQ/ADMIN/2022/79.

The circular titled, “Computation of Leave Based on Working Days and Approval of Paternity Leave in the Public Service,” In line with the provisions of the Public Service Rules 2021 Edition, the computation of all leave.

“I am directed to refer to the circular from the office of the Head of Service of the Federation Ref: HCSF/SPSO/ODD/NCE/RR/650309/3 dated 25 November, 2022 on the above subject and to convey Government directives as follows”

“Paternity leave has been approved for serving male officers whose spouse delivers a baby, The period of leave shall be fourteen (14) working days. The leave shall not be more than once in two (2) years and a maximum of four children. In a situation whereby the family of a male officer adopts a child under four months old, the officer is also entitled to paternity leave for fourteen working days.

” Request for such leave shall be accompanied by the expected Day of Delivery’s (EDD) report of the officer’s wife or evidence of approval of adoption of the child by the relevant government bodies,”he added.
