Court Remands Adamawa Varsity Lecturer In Prison Over Alleged Rape Of Secondary School Girl

The lecturer was apprehended for reportedly molesting a secondary school leaver in his office.

Yola, Adamawa State–  A magistrates’ court in Mubi LGA has remanded Garandi Danjuma Ijudigal, a lecturer at Adamawa State University, in prison for alleged rape.

The lecturer was apprehended for reportedly molesting a secondary school leaver in his office.

Ijudigal, a lecturer in the Department of Geography, was charged before Magistrate Chivi Ali.

The spokesperson for the Adamawa State Police Command, Sulaiman Ngurore, confirmed the incident, stated that the case was initially filed without a police report and that the court referred the matter to the police for proper investigation.

He said information gathered in the course of investigation by the police indicted the lecturer for rape, alleging that he sexually assaulted a secondary school leaver after molesting her in his office.

Mr Ngurore said that after the arraignment of the defendant and upon the police getting involved, the prosecution had applied for legal advice from the state Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).

He said when the advice is gotten, the case would most likely move to a high court for proper prosecution.
