Incident confirmed, corpse recovered and deposited for autopsy

A 300-level female undergraduate at the Benue State University (BSU) who earlier went missing has been found dead.

The deceased, Erekaa Dooshima Naomi, was found dead on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, three days after she went missing.

It was gathered that her body was found buried in a shallow grave in a fenced land at a vicinity opposite the school.

Police spokesperson in the state, SP. Catherine Anene, confirmed the incident.
“Incident confirmed, corpse recovered and deposited for autopsy,” Anene said.

Meanwhile, the National Association of Nigerian Students, joint campus council (Nans-jcc Benue State axis under the leadership of Comr. Igbudu Victor) has condemned the gruesome murder of Dooshima.

A statement signed by Comr. Henry Monday Agbo, the Media Director, NANS-JCC, Benue State, said;

“Before her demise, Erekaa Naomi, popularly known as Affections Erikz reportedly left her house at Akpehe to complete her assignment at a friend’s at Saba after which she was unreachable, which got her mum and friends worried. All efforts to reach her proved abortive,”

“Her phone, identity card and other belongings were later found around Rahama clinic where her clothes were soaked in blood. Her corpse was found in a fenced land after Bolek filling stations where it was exhumed by men of the police force, E- division, Makurdi.

“This is coming as a rude shock to the entire Students Community in Benue State and the general public as it is barely two weeks since Jinaba, a student of the same institution was earlier murdered in cold blood by Fulani herdsmen.

“It is in regard to this that NANS-JCC, Benue state axis demands an immediate investigative action by the security agencies and the Benue State government to uncover the masterminds of this barbaric and inhuman act as any lackadaisical attitude by both bodies regarding this matter will be greeted with strict resistance by all Students in Benue State.

“As such a critical period as this where the national election is in two days’ time, NANS demands adequate security cover for all students to prevent the further occurrence and also wishes to charge to members to activate all measures of personal security; avoid late night movements and unruly places, always update a trusted person about your whereabouts and so many others.

“Sequentially, in pursuance of justice for the murder of Affectionate Erikz and to ensure the security of all Benue Students, the Benue State Council Chairman, Comr. Victor Igbudu hereby sets up a five-student investigative and security committee (SISC) to work closely with the security agencies across Benue State to:

1. unravel the mystery behind the death of Erekaa Naomi Dooshima
2. submit a comprehensive security report of the matter to NANS-JCC, Benue State axis.
3. Come up with a security measure to ensure the security and well-being of Students in Benue state on campus and off campus.
4. Carry out other duties as may be required of them by the leadership of NANS-JCC, Benue State axis.
This Committee shall commence work immediately and be constituted as follows:
1. Dondove Felix – Chairman
2. Tyokosu pricillia – Secretary
3. Joseph Ikyobo – Member
4. Gundu Joy – Member
5. Idoko Monday – Member

“Meanwhile, NANS-JCC, Benue axis wishes to extend her condolences to the families of the victim and her immediate Community, the Students’ Union of Benue State University headed by Comr. Raymond Adih Chocho. we pray God should grant you all the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.”
