BREAKING: Terrorists Launch Fresh Attacks On Kwara Communities As Security Forces Withdraw Over Lack Of Weapons

A source told Afrika Eyes on Monday, the attacks affected villages including Lata Woro, Gada, Kokodabi, and Gbugbu via Lafiagi.

Ilorin, Kwara State– Terrorists have reportedly launched coordinated attacks on several communities in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State, forcing security operatives to abandon their posts due to a lack of adequate weapons.

A source told Afrika Eyes on Monday, the attacks affected villages including Lata Woro, Gada, Kokodabi, and Gbugbu via Lafiagi.

The source said that the onslaught has created panic across the region, with hundreds of families fleeing for safety.

A source who spoke with Afrika Eyes that local vigilantes who attempted to confront the gunmen were overwhelmed and many were found dead in the aftermath.

“They were brave, but the terrorists had superior weapons. .

Security operatives, including police officers and soldiers previously stationed in the area, were said to have pulled back from active operations, reportedly due to a lack of arms and ammunition.

“The operatives told us they cannot face terrorists with bare hands. They said they had insufficient weapons to match the firepower of the attackers,” another local said.

The source added that while some soldiers have returned to the area, others reported that the military complained the gunmen’s weapons are more sophisticated than theirs. The troops are currently awaiting reinforcements from Ilorin, the state capital.

The source said, Please, the situation is not smiling. People are fleeing from various areas, including Gada and Gbugbu. Even some security agencies are withdrawing and returning home, saying the gunmen are better armed than they are. As it stands, no one is safe here.

“Our only hope now is to stay indoors, perform ablution, and continue praying.For those who are not near us, please keep praying for our safety.

“There have already been many casualties among local vigilante members.”

According to the source, “No vehicles or any form of transport can pass through the Gbugbu–Patigi road.

“Some soldiers have returned, while others say the military complained that the gunmen’s weapons are more sophisticated than theirs. They are now waiting for reinforcements to arrive from Ilorin.”

When Afrika Eyes contacted the spokesperson of the Kwara State Police Command, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, she declined the calls made to her and did not respond to the message sent to her.
