BREAKING: Terrorists Invade Eruku Township, Travellers Flee Into Bushes As Gunmen Rain Bullets
Residents said the invasion threw the entire area into chaos, with gunfire echoing for several minutes as people ran in different directions.
Ilorin, Kwara State– Terror spread across Eruku township in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State on Tuesday evening as terrorists launched a violent attack, forcing travellers and residents to abandon vehicles and homes while scampering into the surrounding bushes for safety.
Sources told Afrika Eyes that the attackers stormed the community in large numbers, shooting sporadically as they advanced through parts of the town.
Residents said the invasion threw the entire area into chaos, with gunfire echoing for several minutes as people ran in different directions.
An eyewitness, a traveller returning from Niger State, recorded a distressing voice note while hiding in the bush. In a panic-filled tone, he described how passengers had to jump out of their vehicles and flee:
“This is 18-11-2025. I was on my way from Federal Ibida in Niger State, coming through Ilorin. We suddenly ran into them. Everybody has abandoned their cars and scattered into the bush. They are shooting… can you hear the gunshots?
“Please come to our rescue. Police should come. We are in trouble. Everybody is in the bush. They are already in the town now. People are running everywhere. Please help us.”
Multiple travellers could be seen in the video rushing through the bushes and calling for security intervention as gunshots rang in the background.
Residents told Afrika Eyes that parts of the community had been overtaken, as the attackers reportedly moved from one section of the town to another, firing at intervals.
As of the time of filing this report, security operatives had not issued an official statement, and the number of casualties or abducted persons remains unclear.
The attack adds to the rising wave of insecurity along Kwara–Kogi–Niger border communities, where bandit incursions and highway ambushes have intensified in recent months.
Residents and travellers are calling on the military and police authorities to deploy urgent reinforcements to prevent further violence.
