The latest development comes against the backdrop of a prolonged political feud between Governor Fubara and his predecessor and former political ally, Nyesom Wike, a rift that has sharply polarised Rivers State’s political landscape and paralysed governance.

Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has weighed in on the unfolding crisis, stating that Wike would “certainly be under” Governor Fubara should he decide to defect to the party, stressing that political leadership and hierarchy are determined by current officeholders, not past influence.
