Ikeja, Lagos State – Mojisola Lasbat Meranda has resigned as Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, clearing the path for the return of her predecessor, Mudashiru Obasa, amid intense political maneuvering within the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Meranda’s resignation was announced during Monday’s plenary session, following mounting pressure from top APC leaders, including President Bola Tinubu and Lagos APC Chairman Cornelius Ojelabi.

It was gathered that Meranda had been under sustained pressure to step aside as party loyalists rallied behind Obasa, who was ousted over allegations of corruption and abuse of office.
