BREAKING: Gunmen Kill Student, Injure Three In Plateau
The victims were said to have gone to charge their phones at a filling station close to the school when the gunmen opened fire on them, killing one on the spot, while two others sustained injuries.
A gang of gunmen have killed one person and injured two others on Friday night in Kuru community, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
It was learnt that all the victims were students of a boarding school within the environs.
The victims were said to have gone to charge their phones at a filling station close to the school when the gunmen opened fire on them, killing one on the spot, while two others sustained injuries.

A community leader in the area, Sunday Gyang, confirmed the incident and explained that the students were attacked around 7:30 pm on Friday.
According to him, “What happened was that yesterday afternoon (Friday) some Fulani herdsmen who were staying at a location in the community using their cows to destroy farmlands of the native community were driven away. So, last night (Friday), they sent terrorists to attack the community.”
Mr Gyang explained that the incident happened around Science School Kuru, by Emmy fuelling station opposite Assemblies of God’s Church close to the school, stressing that the bandits came in a Peugeot J5 vehicle and opened fire on people, mostly students.

He lamented that some students of Science School Kuru, who went there to charge their phones were seriously affected, explaining that a student died instantly while the other two students who were injured were rushed to a hospital for treatment.
He added that the firing of the gunshots attracted the attention of some security escorts in transit who also responded and chased the terrorists away, saying that the attack on the community would have been more devasting.

The state Public Relations Officer Alabo Alfred, confirmed the incident when contacted and promised to issue a statement on the incident.
