Port-Harcourt, Rivers State – The Rivers State Governor, Siminialayi Fubara, has suspended Otonye Briggs, the caretaker committee chairman of Akuku-Toru Local Government Area, with immediate effect.
The decision was announced in a statement issued on Tuesday, September 17, by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi.
The suspension comes as part of a leadership shake-up in the council, with Fubara appointing Bitebobo Nelson Amieye as the new caretaker committee chairman.
Meanwhile, the governor has directed Briggs to hand over all council property to Amieye to ensure a smooth transition of authority.
