BREAKING: Fresh Fear In Kwara As Terrorists Abduct Farmer In Eruku One Week After Release Of 38 Church Victims

They were said to be four in number and armed with AK-47 rifles and cutlasses.

Ilorin,  Kwara State– Tension has returned to Eruku, a community in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, after terrorists abducted another resident on Sunday—barely a week after 38 kidnapped worshippers were freed in the same town.

Afrika Eyes learnt that the attackers, suspected to be Fulani/Bororo gunmen, stormed a farmland on the Eruku–Koro road at about midday.

They were said to be four in number and armed with AK-47 rifles and cutlasses.

National Pilot reports that a community leader who spoke on condition of anonymity explained that the assailants invaded the farm during routine work hours and whisked away one Annas Aasanru, a native of Eruku.

“The Armed came with cutlasses and AK-47 rifles, the assailants invaded the farmland and kidnapped a man identified as Annas Aasanru, a native of Eruku, before escaping into the bush,” the source said.

Previously,  Afrika Eyes reported that there is rising tension in Kwara State following the reported abduction of Oba Bayagan, a traditional ruler in Ifelodun Local Government Area, by suspected terrorists.

Afrika Eyes learnt that the monarch was kidnapped on Saturday, though details surrounding the incident remain unclear as of press time.

Local security sources said the attackers stormed the area, whisking the traditional ruler away.

The latest abduction adds to the growing insecurity troubling Kwara in recent months.

Just two weeks ago, armed men invaded a church in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area, disrupting worship and abducting several members of the congregation.

The victims were later rescued, but the incident heightened fears among residents.

Days after the church attack, terrorists again struck in Isapa community, where at least 11 people were kidnapped in a late-night raid that left families traumatised.

Communities across Kwara have repeatedly cried out over the escalating attacks, urging the state government and security agencies to strengthen surveillance and deploy more personnel to vulnerable areas.

Residents say they now live in constant fear as criminal networks expand their operations deeper into rural parts of the state.
