BREAKING: Court Sentences Uduak Akpan To Death By Hanging For Murder

Uduak’s father, Frank Akpan, and his sister, Anwan Bassey (2nd and 3rd accused) were discharged and acquitted.

Justice Bassey Nkanang of the Akwa Ibom State High Court on Thursday sentenced Uduak Akpan to death by hanging for the murder of Iniubong Umoren.

Umoren, a graduate of Philosophy, University of Uyo, was killed on April 2021. She was job hunting while awaiting mobilisation for the compulsory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme.

It would be recalled that Uduak Akpan, the suspected killer of Iniubong Umoren, had on July 26, 2021, pleaded guilty to murdering her.

In 2021, Umoren was declared missing but was later found dead on April 30.

She was said to have been lured to meet the suspect over a fake job interview.

Uduak’s father, Frank Akpan, and his sister, Anwan Bassey (2nd and 3rd accused) were discharged and acquitted.

In the over two hours of judgement by the presiding Judge, Bassey Nkanang, the convict was found guilty of rape and murder and sentenced to be hung on the neck till he dies.
