Bandits Kill 13 Worshippers In Katsina Mosque Attack As Community Gives Chase
The commissioner noted that the people of Unguwan Mantau had laid an ambush against the bandits earlier, killing several of them.
Katsina State– Katsina State Government have confirmed that 13 people were killed during a morning prayer on Tuesday in Unguwan Mantau, Malumfashi Local Government Area, following a reprisal attack by bandits.
Dr. Nasir Muazu, Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, stated that the victims were shot while performing the Fajr prayer.
He explained that the attack came as retaliation after the community had successfully defended themselves against the bandits two days earlier.
He said that the incident occurred when criminal elements launched a reprisal on the community.
However, members of the community were praying in the mosque when the attackers began shooting sporadically.

News Agency of Nigeria reports that security agencies, including air component commanders from the Nigerian Army and Police Force, have been deployed to the area to restore order.
Muazu emphasised that during the rainy season, bandits often hide in crops to carry out attacks, and assured that efforts are ongoing to bring them to justice.
He also commended the bravery of the community and reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting community-based security initiatives.
The state government extended heartfelt condolences to the families affected and reaffirmed its commitment to eliminating criminals and ensuring safety across Katsina State.
