Bandits Abduct 7 Farmers In Kaduna, Demand N2m Ransom
The farmers were abducted while working on their farms on Saturday morning, August 24, 2024.
Kaduna State- Gunmen suspected to be bandits have abducted seven farmers from Kankarami community, in Anguwar Barde village along the Kaduna-Abuja highway.
The kidnappers are demanding a ransom of N2 million for the release of the victims.
It was gathered that the farmers were abducted while working on their farms on Saturday morning, August 24, 2024.
Daily Trust reports that an anonymous community leader from Unguwar Barde has confirmed the abduction of several men in the area.
The leader expressed the community’s distress, revealing that the bandits have demanded a ransom of N2 million, a sum the village cannot afford.
“We are deeply troubled by this incident. The abduction of our men while they were working on their farm has left us in disarray. The ransom demanded is far beyond our financial means due to the severe economic hardship we are experiencing,” the leader said.
He further explained that if the bandits restrict access to their farms, it will become increasingly difficult for villagers to feed their families.
“Even if the bandits had asked for N1 million, it would still be unaffordable for us due to our impoverished state,” he added.
