Afritel Trains Journalists On Grassroots Accountability Reporting

Afritel Multimedia Limited, Albarka FM, has trained young journalists in Kwara State on good governance and accountability.

Fifteen media personnel were drawn across print, broadcast, and online media platforms in the state seeking to enhance the demand for accountability by journalists from government officials, private individuals, and communities.

The training at the instance of Albarka FM in conjunction with the Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism and MacArthur Foundation was meant to equip journalists on good governance and accountability at the community level in Kwara State.

Speaking at the end of the three-day training held in Ilorin, the Kwara State Capital, the General Manager of Albarka FM, Dr Rasheed Adigun said that the training was organized to acquaint Journalists to hold, not just the Government at the center account, but to demand the same from state and local governments.

The facilitators took the participants through the areas of Data Journalism, Investigative Journalism, Social Media, and Media Freedom among others

The facilitators include Akinlolu Akinpelumi, Mayowa Adeniran, Sola Fagorusi, and Charles Mbah.

However, the facilitators urged the journalist in the State to take advantage of the opportunity to become well-rounded investigative journalists.
