Abducted Benue Commissioner ‘Ekpe Ogbu’ Regains Freedom

Benue State Police Command has confirmed the release of the Commissioner of Housing and Urban Development, Chief Dennis Ekpe Ogbu.

It would be recalled that Mr Ogbu was abducted alongside his driver, aide and one other on Sunday at Adankari village along Otukpo/Ado Road.

A family source told journalists on Monday night that the captors opened talks and demand N5 million ransom.

While the police launched a manhunt for the kidnappers for possible rescue of the trio.

The state police spokesperson, SP Catherine Anene, confirmed the release of the commissioner on Tuesday.

She did not give any further details about the release of the commissioner or mention the whereabouts of the two others.

Ogbu’s release comes two days after he was kidnapped at the notorious Adankari Junction along the Otukpo-Ado Road in the North-Central State.
