Abuja, Nigeria– The Nigerian Senate has suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan for six months following a dispute with Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
The decision, which follows an investigation by the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Code of Conduct, cites Akpoti-Uduaghan for “total violation” of Senate rules.
According to the committee’s recommendation, her suspension takes effect immediately.
During this period, she will be barred from accessing the National Assembly premises, her office will be locked, and her salaries, along with those of her legislative aides, will be withdrawn.
However, she is prohibited from representing Nigeria in any official capacity as a senator.
The committee further recommended that the Kogi Central lawmaker submit a written apology, which the Senate may consider in reviewing her suspension.
