Kebbi Police Reject ₦1 Million Bribe From Suspected Lakurawa Terrorists
The suspects offered a bribe of ₦1,060,000 to the lead investigator to compromise the prosecution of a case involving the Lakurawa terrorist group, notorious for banditry in northern Kebbi State.
Birni Kebbi, Kebbi State– Kebbi State Police Command has foiled an attempt by three suspects linked to the notorious Lakurawa terrorists to bribe officers with ₦1 million in a bid to derail investigations into their alleged crimes.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Nafiu Abubakar, revealed this in a statement issued on Tuesday.
Abubakar identified the suspects as Umaru Garba, 53, of Dangandu village; Alhaji Abubakar Alhaji Mamman, 51, of Maimaichi village—both in Arewa Local Government Area—and Usman Muhammadu, 50, of Bakaramba village in Argungu Local Government Area.
According to Abubakar, the suspects offered a bribe of ₦1,060,000 to the lead investigator to compromise the prosecution of a case involving the Lakurawa terrorist group, notorious for banditry in northern Kebbi State.
He explained that the attempted bribe occurred at the premises of the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Gwadangaji, Birnin Kebbi.

“The state Commissioner of Police, Bello Sani, commended the detectives for their integrity and professionalism. He urged other officers to emulate their commitment to upholding justice.
The commissioner reiterated the command’s resolve to intensify efforts in combating banditry and other crimes to ensure socio-economic development in Kebbi State.
