Kidnappers Kill 17-Year-Old Student In Ogun State After Receiving N1m Ransom

Abeokuta, Ogun State- A 17-year-old student of Lisabi Grammar School, Abeokuta, Habeebah Akinsanya, was found dead following her abduction and the payment of a N1 million ransom.

Akinsanya was kidnapped on Friday, August 30, in Kilometre 6 community, Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area.

Meanwhile, her family was reported to have paid the ransom as demanded by the kidnappers. Despite this, she was discovered dead on Sunday, September 1.

Her father, Akinsanya Aremu, who works with the state security outfit So-Safe Corps, reported the abduction to Kemta Police Station in Abeokuta.

However, the kidnappers initially provided a UBA account for the ransom but Aremu transferred the money to an Opay account in hopes of securing his daughter’s release.

It was further gathered that after receiving the ransom, the kidnappers instructed Aremu to collect his daughter from a location near Obasa, just a few kilometers from OGTV/Mile 6.

however, when he arrived at the site on Sunday morning, he found Habeebah’s body, severely mutilated with machete wounds and infested with soldier ants.

The kidnappers then demanded an additional ransom on Sunday morning, which Aremu refused to pay.

Habeebah, who was set to enter SS3 when schools resumed on September 13 and would have turned 17 in October, is now being prepared for burial.

Soji Ganzallo, Commander of the So-Safe Corps, confirmed the incident and stated, “Yes, we are aware of the sad incident and we have launched our investigation.”
