Vigilantes Arrest Four, Foil Kidnapping Plot In Kwara
The suspects in approached local vigilantes for help and cooperation in the abduction
Ilorin, Kwara State– Local vigilantes ‘Gan Allah’ reportedly apprehended four suspected kidnappers in Oke-Ode, the Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.
It was reported that the suspects in approached local vigilantes for help and cooperation in the abduction of a prominent chief (bale) and his spouse within the community.
According to a community member who spoke to the Daily Trust on Sunday, the Gan Allah Vigilantes seemingly cooperated with the suspects, namely Adeyemi Saheed, Adeyemi Lukman, Johnson Samuel, and one other person, when they asked for an AK-47 to carry out the operation.
“However, they were all arrested when they came to collect the weapon from the vigilantes. They have been handed over to the police,”
The Chairman of the Gan Allah Fulani Development Association (GAFDAN), Ali Mohammed Jounwiro, stated that members of their community had been at the receiving end of many false accusations which had led to unnecessary attacks.
He said the arrest of the suspects would, therefore, further expose the identity of others behind kidnapping activities in the state and other parts of the South West.
Spokesman of the state Police Command, Ajayi Okasanmi, confirmed the development.
“It’s true, and the suspects are being held at the AKS Department as investigation is ongoing,” the PPRO said.
