KAROTA Intercepts Truck With Over 4,600 Bottles Of Alcoholic Drinks

The Kano State government had prohibited the consumption of beer in all parts of the state.

Kano State– The Kano Road and Traffic Agency (KAROTA) has intercepted a truck conveying a significant haul of alcoholic beverages within the city.

The operation, carried out by vigilant KAROTA officials, led to the apprehension of the truck and the seizure of over 4,600 bottles of alcoholic drinks.

The agency’s Public Relations Officer, Nabilusi Abubakar, revealed this information in a statement issued on Monday, December 11, 2023.

“The truck, with registration number FGG 407 XB, was apprehended along Ibrahim Taiwo Road around 4 am on Sunday by officers of the agency. Immediately the driver saw the officers of the agency, so he parked the truck and ran away.

KAROTA Managing Director, Faisal Kabir said, “Once the investigation is completed, we will hand them (drinks) over to Hisbah Board for necessary action.”

He called on the general public to support the agency in its mandate to ensure the security of the state.

According to him, the Kano State government had prohibited the consumption of beer in all parts of the state.

He added that Hisbah, a religious police force in the state, has been given the mandate to confiscate and destroy bottles of alcoholic beverages in line with the dictates of Sharia law.
