Port-Harcourt, Rivers State–  All the 27 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly have officially left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The legislators, purportedly aligned with the former governor of the state and current Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, declared their defection earlier today, December 11.

The lawmakers cited the division in the PDP as the reason for their defection to APC

The defection occurred several weeks after an unsuccessful attempt to impeach the current state governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

Fubara who is presently engaged in a political conflict with Wike, played a pivotal role in his ascension to the governorship.

Rumours are circulating that Wike will soon announce his defection to the APC.

The lawmakers, waving APC flags, sang the allegiance song to President Tinubu, proclaiming, “On your mandate, we shall stand.”
