Kwara Police Arrest 7 Suspected Kidnappers, Recover Cash

#1, 736,000.00 (ONE MILLION, SEVEN HUNDRED AND THIRTY SIX THOUSAND NAIRA) was recovered

Ilorin, Kwara State–  Operatives of Kwara State Police Command have arrested Seven suspected kidnappers in Ora, Oke-Ode and other areas in the Ifelodun Local Government Area of the State.

The suspected kidnappers were identified as, Umaru Mohammodu a. K. A. Yellow ‘m’,  Mohammodu Mohammodu a. K. A. Kerimi ‘m’, Garuba Abubakar ‘m’, Iliasu Usman ‘m’, Ibraheem Abubakar ‘m’, Usman Haruna ‘m’ and Umaru Bello ‘m’ (informant).]

This is contained in a statement signed by the Commissioner of Police, CP Victor Olaiya, disclosed to Afrika Eyes on Sunday, November 12, 2023, which said that a powerful team comprising men drawn from the Counter Terrorism Unit, Anti-Robbery, Anti-Kidnapping mobilized to the bush to arrest the kidnappers.

The statement read: “Combing the bushes and forests in the identified areas, arresting Criminals found, Recovering Arms and Ammunition, rescuing victims and clearing the bushes of criminal elements. The operation began on 1/11/2023 with positive outcomes recorded.

“A cash sum of #1, 736,000.00 (ONE MILLION, SEVEN HUNDRED AND THIRTY SIX THOUSAND NAIRA) was recovered during a search of their hideout. This singular effort helped resulting in the lull experienced in the activities of these undesirable elements until the incident of 10/11/23 which occurred at about 2030hrs.”

The police boss said that the command would not relent in her onerous and unmitigated pressure on the criminals until they relocated from the state of Harmony.

CP Olaiya said the Command’s team is committed to rescuing all victims sooner than expected as the Command is hot on the heels of the Criminals.

Meanwhile, the seven suspects arrested in the operation and named above have been arraigned in court and are presently remanded in Prison custody.

He added that efforts are on to apprehend the perpetrators of this recent unfortunate incident.
