EFCC Bows To Court Order, Brings Emefiele To Court

The judge directed the anti-graft agency to either grant bail to Mr. Emefiele or allow the court to do so

Abuja, Nigeria – The former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, who had been in the custody of Federal Government security agencies for over 150 days, was finally brought to court today in compliance with the directive issued by Justice Olukayode Adeniyi.

Dressed in a yellow Babariga paired with a traditional Hausa cap, Mr Emefiele entered the courtroom at about 12:30 PM. He was accompanied by a team of operatives from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) who were responsible for ensuring his security during the proceedings.

Justice Olukayode Adeniyi reaffirmed his order on Monday, November 6, specifying that the detained former CBN governor must be brought to court on November 8 for the purpose of admitting him to bail.

Furthermore, the judge directed the anti-graft agency to either grant bail to Mr. Emefiele or allow the court to do so, in accordance with the provisions of the law governing fundamental human rights.
