Court Of Appeal Affirms Natasha Akpoti-Uduagan As Kogi Central Senatorial Winner
The appeal filed by Abubakar Ohere, which challenged the legitimacy of Natasha
Abuja, Nigeria– The Court of Appeal, Abuja Division, has delivered a landmark judgment affirmed Natasha Akpoti-Uduagan as the duly elected candidate for the Kogi Central Senatorial Election held earlier this year in February.
In a highly anticipated ruling, the court dismissed the appeal filed by Abubakar Ohere, which challenged the legitimacy of Natasha Akpoti-Uduagan’s victory.
The court found that the appeal lacked merit and upheld the decision of the lower tribunal, which had earlier declared Akpoti-Uduagan as the rightful winner of the election.
In September, the Kogi State Election Petition Tribunal, situated in Lokoja, invalidated the triumph of Ohere from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Kogi Central Senatorial Election.
Subsequently, the court affirmed Natasha Akpoti-Uduagan, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as the legitimate victor of the February senatorial election.
Despite Ohere’s appeal to the higher court, it upheld Akpoti-Uduagan’s victory in the election.
