Nigerian Army Eliminates Notorious Bandit Leader ‘Mainasara’ In Kebbi

During the exchange of fire, the bandits tried to escape but were neutralized

Born in Kebbi, Kebbi State- The Nigerian Army, stationed in Malekachi and operating within the Sangeko forest of Danko Wasagu Local Government Area in Kebbi State, has eliminated a suspected notorious bandit leader known as ‘Mainasara.’

The army also neutralized two other suspected bandits who were believed to be part of the gang led by the notorious bandit kingpin, Mainasara.

The bandits were said to be involved in carrying out harmful attacks and kidnappings on communities in the area.

Alhaji Ahmed Idris, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Kebbi State, on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, made this known in a statement released in Birnin Kebbi.

According to Alhaji Idris, the Director of Security in the Cabinet Office, Birnin Kebbi, AbdulRahman Usman, has also confirmed this significant development to the State Government.

“As the troops were on routine patrol in Sengeko forest around 0730hrs, they suddenly engaged the bandits in a fierce gun duel,” Usman stated.

“During the exchange of fire, the bandits tried to escape but were neutralized by the army and two of their bikes were also recovered and destroyed in the process before the troops withdrew back to FOB Malekachi by 1230hrs,” he averred.

He noted that the successes recorded by the security operatives in the state was sequel to the proactive stance of Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu, Kebbi State Governor for his unrelenting support particularly the provision of crucial logistics to the security personnel operating in the State.
