Woman Arrested For Pouring Hot Water On Her Husband Over N15,000 In Rivers

The most recent occurrence happened within a week of an incident in which a woman named Hope Nwala poured hot groundnut oil on her sleeping husband

Port-Hartcourt, Rivers State– A woman named Godslove Olakada has been arrested by the Rivers State Police Command for scalding her husband, Olakada Ejire, with boiling water during a domestic dispute in the Agbonchia community in the Eleme Local Government Area of the state.

The arrest of the suspect took place on Saturday, October 14, 2023, while her injured husband was rushed to a hospital in Aleto Eleme, where he is currently undergoing medical treatment.

According to an eyewitness, the woman had accused Ejire of withholding N15,000 that was meant to be shared between them and their children from the host community’s dividends, the accusation led to a heated argument.

Driven by anger, the mother of two poured scalding water on her husband’s face and then attempted to flee the scene.

“Thereafter she took the man’s Automated Teller Machine and attempted to flee with it but youths in the area handed her over to the police,” the witness said.

The most recent occurrence happened within a week of an incident in which a woman named Hope Nwala poured hot groundnut oil on her sleeping husband after a dispute in Okehi, Etche LGA of the state.

Grace Iringe-Koko, the spokesperson for the Rivers State who confirmed the incident in a statement on Monday, October 16, said the woman has been arrested.

“The Rivers state police, operatives, through credible intelligence, have arrested one Godslove Olakada (f) from Agbonchia Eleme on Saturday, 14/10/2023 at about 20:30hrs for pouring hot water on her husband, one Olakada Ejire (m),” the statement read.

“He was rushed to Famo Hospital at Aleto Eleme for treatment. The cause was domestic family issues

“An investigation has commenced to get to the root of the matter,” the PPRO added.

She urged members of the public to promptly report distress situations to the police.
