Israel Declares War On Hamas, Distributes Arms In North
Israel has made it clear that these supplies will not be resumed until all the hostages held by Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip are released.
Ayyelet HaShahar Kibbutz, Israel – Israel is experiencing a surge in tensions and violence, with the distribution of arms to Israeli citizens living in the northern region, near the Lebanese border.
The move comes in the wake of an intensifying conflict with the Palestinian militant group Hamas, prompting the Israeli military to mobilize tanks on the border and declare war on the organization.
Recent clashes between Israeli forces and Lebanon‘s Hezbollah have set the stage for this latest development.
Israel’s military presence on the border with Lebanon has grown significantly in recent days, with tanks massing in anticipation of further hostilities. Israeli Minister of Defense, Yoav Gallant, issued a resolute statement, vowing to “crush and destroy” Hamas, and assuring the public that Israel is ready to defend its citizens against any threat.
The conflict has taken a severe toll on both sides, with a substantial number of casualties reported. Israeli military authorities confirmed that the death toll has reached 1,200, with over 2,700 individuals injured and several taken hostage.
Meanwhile, in the Gaza Strip, Palestinian media sources, citing the enclave’s health ministry, reported a death toll of at least 1,300 people, with approximately 5,600 wounded.
In preparation for a potential land invasion, hundreds of thousands of Israeli soldiers have converged on the Gaza border. Simultaneously, Israel has continued its air campaign, targeting Hamas infrastructure, commanders, and operating centers.
In a controversial move, Israel has also imposed a “complete siege” on the Palestinian territory, cutting off essential supplies, including electricity, water, and fuel. The Gaza Strip, home to approximately 2.4 million people, has been severely impacted by this blockade.
Israel has made it clear that these supplies will not be resumed until all the hostages held by Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip are released.
United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed deep distress over the ongoing siege, urging the immediate release of all hostages and the lifting of the blockade.
Guterres also emphasized the need to protect civilians in the midst of this escalating conflict, which marks the fifth war in 15 years for Gaza’s beleaguered residents.
The situation remains highly volatile, with the international community closely watching developments in the region as tensions continue to rise.
