BREAKING: President Tinubu Appoints New Leadership For EFCC

The decision follows the resignation of the suspended Executive Chairman, Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa.

Abuja, NigeriaPresident Bola Tinubu has announced the appointment of Mr. Ola Olukoyede, a seasoned lawyer with over two decades of experience, as the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The decision follows the resignation of the suspended Executive Chairman, Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa.

According to Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu’s spokesperson, Mr Olukoyede’s appointment is effective immediately and is set for a renewable term of four years in the first instance, subject to Senate confirmation.

Ola Olukoyede brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having worked for more than 22 years as a regulatory compliance consultant and specialist in fraud management and corporate intelligence.

His extensive background in the operations of the EFCC includes previous roles as Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman from 2016 to 2018 and as the Secretary to the Commission from 2018 to 2023, fulfilling the statutory requirements for his appointment as Chairman.

President Bola Tinubu’s appointments didn’t stop there. He also designated Mr. Muhammad Hassan Hammajoda to serve as the Secretary of the EFCC. Hammajoda, a public administrator with extensive experience in public finance management, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Maiduguri and a Masters in Business Administration from the same institution.

Hammajoda’s professional journey began as a lecturer at the Federal Polytechnic, Mubi. He later ventured into the banking sector, where he enjoyed successful tenures at the now-defunct Allied Bank and Standard Trust Bank.
