2023: Kwara North Elders Pledge Support For Governor AbdulRazaq Re-election

There is room to do more, and that’s why we are pledging our support

Elders and stakeholders in the northern part of Kwara State have pledged support for Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, restating their commitment to massively deliver him during the forthcoming general election.

The elders who paid a courtesy visit to the Governor in Ilorin on Thursday were led by Ambassador Nurudeen Muhammed.

They testified that Governor AbdulRazaq has extended democratic dividends to Kwara North, noting the region has witnessed unprecedented growth and development in the last three years.

The elders who came from across different local government areas and towns in Kwara North include, former Chairman, Kaiama LG, Alhaji Inuwa Musakallah; Hon. Abdulmumin Sidik Katibi; Alhaji Abubakar Ndakene; former Majority Leader, Kwara State House of Assembly (KWHA) Chief Wole Oke.

Others are Ciroman Kaiama, Alhaji Abubakar Omar; former member, KWHA, Hon. Abdulkareem Ayinde; Secretary, Kwara North Elders Council, Hon. Atiku Abdulsalam.

Despite opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) fielding their gubernatorial candidate from Kwara North, incumbent Governor AbdulRazaq who is of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has continued to draw support from major stakeholders and people of Kwara North.

Traditional leaders and religious leaders have also drummed support for the Governor, with Etsu Patigi, Alhaji Umar Ibrahim Bologi, leading the pack.

The Etsu had at least on three occasions endorsed Governor AbdulRazaq, including where he spoke for the traditional institution in Kwara North.

The wide support the Governor is receiving in Kwara North is predicated on his huge investments in the region in road networks, healthcare, education, agriculture, among others.

“We have seen remarkable transformation in our region. Every local government in Kwara North has been touched by this administration. There is room to do more, and that’s why we are pledging our support for Governor AbdulRazaq to consolidate his good works in our region,” the Elders Council said.

“Our people have taken notice of the construction of the 33km Ilesha-Baruba-Gwanara Road which was abandoned by the previous administration. For the first time since existence, Kwara North is having a radio station built by the present administration in Okuta. We are witnesses to the ongoing multi-billion naira Special Agro Processing Zone in Lata, Patigi. We have seen massive reconstruction of schools and health centres, including Government Unity Secondary School in Kaiama, Government Secondary School in Lafiagi, Gboke LGEA School in Patigi, General Hospital in Okuta, General Hospital in Lafiagi, PHC, Kpada, PHC, Dumagi, and many others.

“Our people have benefitted from this adminstration’s social intervention programmes, empowerment programmes and even employment. We will reward this gesture with our votes for Governor AbdulRazaq to return him for a second term in office.”
